Sports massage therapy at Mind & Muscle Therapy is designed to assess, treat and support recovery from muscular aches, pains and injuries - helping you move better, reduce discomfort and get back to doing the things you enjoy.
You don’t need to be an athlete to benefit. Many people come for help with everyday tension, posture-related issues, or general muscular aches and pains.
I am a VTCT Level 3 and Level 4 qualified Sports Massage Therapist with advanced training in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of muscular and musculoskeletal conditions. My Level 4 qualification enables me to carry out detailed assessments, functional movement analysis and orthopaedic testing to help identify the underlying cause of pain or injury, allowing treatment to be tailored specifically to your needs.
Treatment may help with a wide range of muscular and musculoskeletal conditions, including:
• Neck and shoulder pain
• Lower back pain
• Muscle strains
• Sports injuries
• Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
• Plantar fasciitis
• Tight hamstrings, calves and hip flexors
• Postural tension
• Running-related injuries
• Reduced mobility and stiffness
• Muscle recovery after exercise
• General aches and pains
• And, many other muscular aches, pains and injuries.
If you're unsure whether sports massage is appropriate for your condition, feel free to get in touch before booking.
Every appointment begins with a thorough assessment.
Depending on your symptoms, this may include:
• discussion of your symptoms and medical history
• posture assessment
• movement analysis
• range of movement testing
• muscle strength testing
• functional assessments
• orthopaedic special tests (where appropriate)
This helps identify the underlying cause of your symptoms, allowing treatment to be tailored specifically to you rather than simply treating where it hurts.
1. Assess
We discuss your symptoms, assess your movement and identify the likely cause of your pain.
↓
2. Treat
Treatment is tailored to your assessment and may include sports massage, IASTM, cupping, taping or other appropriate techniques.
↓
3. Recover
You'll leave with advice, exercises where appropriate, and a clear plan to support your recovery.
Treatment may include one or a combination of:
✔ Sports Massage
✔ Deep Tissue Techniques
✔ IASTM
✔ Dry Cupping
✔ Lymphatic Drainage
✔ Kinesiology Taping
✔ Red Light Therapy
✔ Home exercises and self-management advice
Each treatment is selected based on your assessment findings and individual goals.
Where appropriate, you'll receive advice and simple exercises to continue at home.
These may help improve strength, mobility and flexibility while reducing the risk of symptoms returning and supporting your long-term recovery.
Recovery doesn't end when you leave the treatment room.
Sports massage is a hands-on treatment. You may be asked to remove certain items of clothing depending on the area being worked on, but your comfort, dignity and consent are always prioritised.
If you’re unsure whether treatment is suitable for you, feel free to get in touch before booking.
